Helping a Small Recycling Yard Improve Scrap Loading Efficiency

Project Background

A small and medium-sized scrap recycling yard was facing a common problem in daily operation: loose metal scrap occupied too much storage space, and the loading efficiency for trucks was low. The customer mainly collected light steel scrap, aluminum profiles, metal sheets, used metal parts, and mixed non-ferrous scrap from local workshops and repair stations.

Before using a hydraulic metal baler, the customer had to store materials in large open areas. Loose scrap was difficult to stack neatly, and every truck could only carry limited weight because the material volume was too large. This directly increased transportation costs and reduced the customer’s profit margin.

After understanding the customer’s material type, daily processing volume, and workshop space, we recommended the Y83-160 Metal Baler as a practical and cost-effective solution.

Customer Requirements

The customer needed a machine that could meet the following requirements:

  1. Compress loose metal scrap into dense and uniform bales
  2. Reduce storage space in the recycling yard
  3. Improve truck loading capacity
  4. Keep operation simple for local workers
  5. Control investment cost without choosing an oversized machine
  6. Make the final bales easier to sell to steel mills and smelting plants

For this type of recycling business, the customer did not need a very large baler with complicated automation. What they needed was a stable, easy-to-operate, and reliable hydraulic baling machine for daily scrap handling.

Our Recommended Solution

We recommended the Y83-160 Hydraulic Metal Baler with 1600kN nominal force. This model is suitable for small and medium recycling yards that process around 2000–3000kg of scrap per hour.

The machine uses a compression chamber of 1600×1000×800mm and can produce bales of (400–600)×350×350mm or (400–600)×400×400mm. The final bale density can reach more than 1800kg/m³, which helps the customer greatly improve material stacking, loading, and transportation efficiency.

The turn-out bale discharging structure makes the finished bale easy to remove. The hand valve control system also allows operators to control the machine directly without complicated training. For customers who value simple maintenance and long-term stable use, this design is very practical.

Project Result

After using the Y83-160 metal baler, the customer was able to compress scattered scrap into compact rectangular bales. The storage area became cleaner, and the material could be stacked more efficiently. Truck loading also became easier because the compressed bales had higher density and more regular dimensions.

The customer reported that the machine helped reduce manual handling work and made the recycling process more organized. More importantly, the compact bales were more acceptable to downstream buyers, including steel mills and metal smelting plants.

Why the Customer Chose Us

The customer chose our Y83-160 metal baler because the machine matched their actual operating scale. Instead of recommending an oversized machine, we provided a model that balanced capacity, power consumption, machine cost, and workshop space.

With decades of experience in hydraulic scrap recycling equipment, our factory can provide suitable machine recommendations according to different scrap materials, capacity requirements, bale size needs, and site conditions. We also support customized hydraulic metal balers for customers who need different chamber sizes, bale dimensions, operation methods, or discharging styles.

Project Summary

This project shows that a suitable metal baler does not always need to be the largest model. For small and medium recycling yards, the Y83-160 Metal Baler provides a practical solution to reduce scrap volume, improve loading efficiency, and increase the value of recyclable metal materials.

For customers processing light and medium scrap metal, aluminum scrap, steel scrap, and mixed non-ferrous materials, the Y83-160 hydraulic metal baler is a reliable choice for daily recycling operations.
