A cast iron parts manufacturer in Türkiye produces pump housings, valve bodies, and industrial machine components. During CNC turning and milling, the factory generates a continuous supply of cast iron sawdust and fine metal chips.
Previously, the loose material was stored in open containers and sold directly to a local recycler. Because cast iron sawdust has a low bulk density, it occupied considerable workshop space and was difficult to transport. Cutting oil remaining in the material also caused leakage around the storage area.
The customer wanted a compact recycling solution that could reduce the volume of the loose chips without adding a complicated production line.
The factory needed to solve three practical problems:
The customer initially considered a larger automatic system. However, after reviewing the actual chip volume, workshop layout, and labor arrangement, the Y83-2500 scrap briquetting press was considered more economical and easier to operate.
We recommended the Y83-2500 hydraulic scrap briquetting press with a nominal force of 2500 kN. It compresses loose cast iron sawdust into cylindrical briquettes measuring approximately Φ100 × 50–80 mm.
For cast iron sawdust under suitable feeding conditions, the machine can process approximately 800 kg per hour. Its 18.5 kW motor also offered a practical balance between pressing performance and electricity consumption.
The selected configuration included PLC semi-automatic operation. The operator only needed to prepare and feed the material, while the pressing and briquette discharge stages were completed through the programmed hydraulic cycle.

Before production, the customer provided photos and videos of the cast iron sawdust. We confirmed that the material was suitable for high-pressure briquetting and advised the customer to control excessive cutting-fluid content before feeding.
The machine was manufactured and tested with similar cast iron material. During the test, we checked hydraulic pressure, briquette formation, cycle stability, and discharge performance. Test videos were sent to the customer for confirmation before shipment.
The equipment was packed for sea transportation and shipped to Türkiye. Operating instructions, electrical documents, foundation information, and routine maintenance guidance were supplied together with the machine.
The Y83-2500 requires only a simple underground footing, so the customer did not need to prepare a large or complex foundation. After positioning the machine, the hydraulic and electrical systems were checked before trial production.
During the initial test, the customer adjusted the feeding quantity according to the moisture and shape of the cast iron sawdust. Once stable settings were established, the machine produced dense cylindrical briquettes with consistent diameters.
The hydraulic drive operated smoothly without noticeable vibration, which was important because the machine was installed close to the existing machining area.
After commissioning, the customer was able to process cast iron sawdust regularly instead of allowing it to accumulate in the workshop. The dense briquettes were easier to stack, weigh, load, and transport than loose chips.

The customer did not need the complexity of a large fully automatic line. The Y83-2500 provided the right level of capacity, automation, and operating cost for the factory’s actual production volume.
This project shows that selecting a scrap briquetting press should be based on the real chip volume, material condition, available space, and preferred operating method—not simply the highest possible output.
For small and medium-sized foundries or machining plants producing cast iron sawdust, the Y83-2500 offers a compact way to convert difficult-to-handle waste into dense, transportable briquettes while supporting cleaner and more organized production.
